Try it yourself. Lock your elbows in and begin your takeaway. Now do the same thing with your arms and elbows relaxed. Which feels best for you? For me, this is a no-brainer. But for you it may be different.
While in my address stance, standing over the golf ball, squaring the club head, I think of my shoulders as a clothesline from which my arms are hanging loosely down. Its a good image that keeps my arms relaxed and supple.
